Kern company was established in 1819, by Jakob Kern in the town of Aargau, Switzerland. The company manufactured a lot of different scientific equipment including camera lens (for Bolex, Alpa, Compass, etc), and for a short period, starting 1923, cameras. Considering the build quality, camera production was expensive, so company stoped development in this area. In 1991, after 171 years of being in business, the company was closed. An excellent source of information about the company products and history can be found at kern-aarau.ch site. |
