After 1967, the Binghamton, New York camera-maker formerly known as Ansco began using the trademark GAF. The Anscomatic 126 is a response to the runaway success of the Kodak Instamatic series. It is a simple fixed focus snapshot camera using drop-in 126 film cassettes. The top of the camera has a socket for flashcubes that came in many varieties and intensities depending on distance needed for the photo. The camera also has a flash release button on the front just over the lens assembly, automatic flashcube rotation, a large optical viewfinder, a frame counter on the top, double exposure protection, two speed shutter, lever film advance, shutter button, and a handy carry strap. In 1967 you could buy the camera for $15.00 or for three more dollars you had the complete outfit and it came with a one year unconditional guarantee. It is a good looking, reliable, inexpensive camera that is easy to use.
