Leica produced 2,000 of this lens in the year 2000 as a New Millenium 'special'. The serial numbers run from 4,000,000 to 4,002,000. It was given its own code - 11611- and a black paint finish. The accessories supplied with it were a black painted version of the classic round metal hood and matching black painted metal lens cap, rather than the standard rectangular plastic hood and cap. Otherwise, it is a normal 35mm ASPH Summicron. It seems to attract around a 50% premium over the standard lens, in good to mint condition.

Thanks for extra information, afildes!

Thanks - I made one error - the retro style matching black paint hood is a 39mm clip in, of course, not a screw-in! Part #12432 as opposed to the standard #12504 circular metal hood for the 35mm Summicron.
