Scovill Manufacturing Co. traces its roots to the 1802, when Abel Porter and Company was established to manufacture buttons and
lighting equipment. In 1871 Scovill acquired American Optical Co. and began manufacturing cameras. In
1889 the camera manufacturing process was split to an independent company with the Scovill & Adams name. Three years later, in 1902,
Scovill & Adams merged with E.&H.T. Anthony & Co. to form a new company - Anthony
& Scovill. |
