The company was established in 1851 (or 1845) as Maison Richard by Felix Richard. Felix passed the company to his sons - Jules, and Felix-Maxime in 1882, and the company was renamed to Richard Freres. In 1891, Felix-Maxime sold his share to his brother, and bought another company (see Richard F.M.). Jules renamed the company to Jules Richard. The company was successful in manufacturing stereo-cameras, and did exist until c1950s.
