Funny how the difference between body only, and with lens, differs so much between similar models. Compare to the Nikon FM or FM2.

Do people pay a lot more for the same lens when it is on a newer camera?

The prices for body + lens should be for the standard lens - the problem is "what were the standard lenses on the cameras that are logged in the database". Taking the example of Nikon (using collectiblend estimates):
Nikkor AI 50 mm 1.2 -- 260-280$ in average condition
Nikkor AI 50 mm 1.4 -- 120-140$ in average condition
Nikkor AI 50 mm 1.8 -- 70-80$ in average condition
Nikkor AI 50 mm 2 -- 60-70$ in average condition

For the individual camera with lens prices, yes. But the average prices should average out over the different lenses, but they don't. The lenses used with the FM and FE should be pretty similar, as with the FM2 and FE2. Personally, I bought my FM new with the AI 35/2.0 and not a normal 50mm lens. Some years later, I bought a used AI 35-70, but mostly used that on my wife's FM (which she bought before we met). I have always like the 35mm more than the 50mm lens.

I agree but I guess that there are not enough data points yet ;) maybe time to add a few more.
