Franz Kochmann Fabrik photographischer Apparate was founded by Franz Kochmann in 1921 in Dresden, Germany. In 1938, Kochmann left the company, and it was taken over, operating first as Korellewerke KG, and then, after a name change a year later, as Korelle-Werk G.H. Brandtmann & Co. In 1948, the company was taken over by the East German VEB WEFO, which later merged into VEB Welta-Kamerawerke. The last Korelle cameras were manufactured in 1952.
