Nicca was founded in 1940 as the optical workshop Kōgaku Seiki-sha. First camera was manufactured in 1942. Later, company changed its names twice, to Nippon Camera Works (1948) and to Nicca Camera Works (1949). In 1958 it was acquired by Yashica.
