The Argus company was founded in 1936, in Michigan, USA. A lot of Argus camera models were manufactured by other companies like Mamiya, Cosina, Petri, Chinon, Whitehouse, Iloca, Haking, Hanimex, Shanghai Camera and Balda. After 33 years of camera business, Argus was sold to the Sylvania company, and ceased camera production shortly after. Recently, the Argus trademark has been re-established, and is now in use as a digital camera brand. This link may help you to identify your Argus model by the serial number. |
