Unknown Folding Plate Camera

Postby Yanksrkewl00 » Thu Sep 17, 2015 11:49 am

Not sure who the maker of this camera is. I believe it is german, but that is all I know. It has the lettering WK on the back with an anchor in between the letters. The Shutter is Compur. Lens is Laack Rathenow Doppel Anastigmat f4.5 10.5cm. If someone could ID this camera for me, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thank you

This is a bit of a guess but could it be a Weeka Kamera-werk camera ? The German Welta company started in 1914 as the Weeka Kamera-Werk. The welta logo is quite different and I have never seen a logo from Weeka Kamera-Werk but Weeka company produced a wide range of plate cameras before changing its name to Welta (see McKeown's 12th edition pages 983-988).

Hello Madd10
I saw today this camera on eBay....with the info you gave.

It is interesting to see that you did not obtain any reply to your message. Not even a "thank you" for the time spent searching for an answer

Well spotted Daniel, it is the exact same camera, maybe we'll get a thank you message when the camera is sold ;)

This very well may be the Kengott camera. WK comes from Wilhelm Kengott. I'd say it's early Supra.
Here is an image of Kengott's tripod. And this is a late Supra on collection-appareils.fr. Considering model from Yanksrkewl00 is missing a logo on the bed, it must be an older model.
And here is the model with chrome edges

Yes Diser you are correct, there is currently an Ebay sale "Kenngott Stuttgart Matador 6,5x9 Laack-Objektiv Regulyt 6,3/105 mm" object 252104491691. One of the pictures clearly shows the logo with WK and anchor. This camera also has another logo "Kenngott Stuttgart" on the bed.

Just an afterthought Diser, maybe not a bad idea to add both logos to the company page http://collectiblend.com/Cameras/Kenngott/

Hooray, mystery solved! :-)

Yep, I'll add logos to the main manufacturer page.
