Polaroid: Polaroid J 66

Postby Jeff L » Sun Aug 16, 2015 1:16 pm

The Polaroid J66 camera is the last mass produced instant roll film camera of the Polaroid line. From 1961-1963,the J66 was the most mass produced roll film camera from Polaroid. The cost of camera and it's ease of use made it very popular at the time. Rough estimate of production exceeds 900,000 at a cost of $89.00 retail price.

You can see the origins of the later pack film cameras in the J66. It is the only roll film Polaroid that used the folding scissor strut assembly and shutter release button just as the pack film cameras. In 1963 at the end of the J66, the Polaroid Model 100 pack film camera was launched and an end of an era in Polaroid history came to a close.

Designed only for use with 3000-speed (B&W) film. Color adapter kit (#660) was made available later in the product's life.
Flash: built-in hinged tilt-out flashgun for AG-1 bulbs Flashgun can be rotated and pivoted to provide either bounce or direct flash
Automatic exposure; shutter speed controlled by selenium cell; manual control not possible.
