Is there an option to add lacking cameras and lenses to Collectiblend
Re: Is there an option to add lacking cameras and lenses to Collectiblend
If you mean, cameras that you are missing then there is a possibility to add cameras to your "wish list"
See options just above the picture of the camera on the camera description pages.
Suggest the rarity
Add this camera to your inventory
Add this camera to your wishlist
If you mean cameras that are not listed on the web site, then you should send a message to diser to ask adding a camera.

Re: Is there an option to add lacking cameras and lenses to Collectiblend
Thanks for the answer.
I'm looking/asking for the second option.
Can you be so kind and tell me more about diser to whom I should contact regarding my question, please.
Or I can simply send my request via "Contact us" form?

Hello,
diser built and maintains the web site, you can send him a direct message, or alternatively use the "contact us" form.
All the best

You can also go to your camera collection, type in the make, then model and add to your colection. It's then added to the list for creation.

At some point all cameras in collectiblend members collections are added to the main database, if they are really missing. Not fast though
Re: Is there an option to add lacking cameras and lenses to Collectiblend
Hi,
Is there any way, as per my previous mention , using Discogs as a reference, that this could be user updated?
The members could add dates, the camera, the details,
It seems about time that cameras were recorded as vinyl records and cds are.

Just allowing any user to update the database might, in my opinion, create a lot of false entries. Maybe starting a major new topic in the forum which is named "requests for adding a new camera" would be a better way to make sure that there is some sort of "quality control".

Hi
Yes, it does! Especially in Discogs, but it works. There are the usual conflicting views but overall it works.
Any false info can be removed. And to be honest..it's not like 45 versions of the same album, it would be basically 3 or 4 versions of camera depending on which market. But yeah, maybe your idea would best..baby steps first.

Not sure how to achieve consistency if there is no single version of truth. Look at this example in Discogs
There is a huge overlap, even for the same country album.
For cameras, there are a lot of rules I am trying to follow when adding a new name to the database. Same camera names are all over the board in auctions, other price guides, forums, ebay, etc. so I am trying to standardize the approach.
For example: Leica I Mod A.
I have seen it being called Leica Ia, Leica ia, Leica la, Leica I(a), Leica I (A), Leica I Model A, Leica I (model a), etc.
And it's not just other sources. When Collectiblend members add a camera to their collection inventory list, sometimes they ignore existing camera DB entry, and add their own model (instead of "Leica I Mod A", there are "Leica Ia" entries). Do we want the new duplicate entry to be publicly available in a main camera list without any sales, description, image, value accuracy information, etc? These are the cases I am trying to avoid.
