I don't seem to be able to add prices for lenses - is there a reason ?

Sort of :) Lenses are listed in a separate database tables, hence I need to maintain them separately. If there is an interest in adding those prices, I can add this feature.

I don't know how many people are adding data to the camera section, I suppose that only a fraction will add data to the lenses section. From my selfish point of view I would obvioulsy like to see this feature added for lenses too.

For me one of the main attractions of the site is that over time we will get quite reliable pricing information on a wide range of cameras (and lenses). I know that you don't have that much time recently and I really admire the personal time commitment that you have put in the web site and database.

Maybe some other people can cast their vote to see if it is worth the effort.

When posting a price, a "cb" symbol appears indicating that the price was added by a CollectBlend member. I was wondering if there is a possibility to have a further refinement as to what the source of the price was.

The reason why I am asking is because sales prices from Ebay are basically the final price that the buyer pays (excluding shipment costs). However, for the prices from auction sites one typically needs to add something like 20% to the sales price (in addition to the shipment costs).

Mark,
When I add prices from hammer auctions, I do add taxes, and auction fees. I don't add shipping of course.
Same is true for eBay prices - they already include listing fees, extras, and exclude shipping.
I do have information on where the "CB" price came from, but only when people add links. There are various cases where folks were buying cameras in flea markets or other places which don't have taxes, it's hard to properly attribute those to a specific source type. I could add a drop-down list when adding a new price to select something like: ebay, other auction, personal transaction, flea market, store, etc. Then it will be easier to list this source along with the price. What do you think?

My main concern was that not always people will add the auction fees. Maybe the best way is to add a box where people could add a % so that we are sure to capture the full price excluding shipment costs (which will anyway depend on the distance between the seller and the buyer). Alternatively make clear that people have to add the auction fees when they add a price.
