Vintage Exakta identification

Postby Camerashy » Wed Sep 01, 2021 8:45 am

Hello,
I'm hoping to pick your collective brains to try and find out what camera I have.
It is an all black cased Ihajee Exakta which is supposed to be from the 1930s.
It is marked Ihagee Dresden with the serial number 432112 at the base of the lens, which is marked Carl Zeiss Jena Nr 1616408 Tessar 1:2.8 f = 7.5cms.
It has Ihagee on the top flap together with a sun/moon logo.
On the inside of the case flap, it is marked D.R.P. along with British P No 410306 414485.
At the hinge end of the case flap, there is USA P Nr (but no number), below which there is Schweiz P + Nr 1/b376 176059.
The camera's push button is missing from the carcass but is included with a few other bits in a plastic bank bag which was inside the very nice leather carrying case (probably too good to be original).
Thanks for anything you can tell me, including a rough estimate of its value.
Best Wishes, Andrew

My copy of Aguila and Rouah puts it as an Exakta B version 4 (my edition does not break it out more finely). The key identifier is the two synch terminals on the left front. The lens is great but a common one for these Exakatas. The camera looks to be in pretty good condition. I would be disappointed if I didn't get $200+ for it (assuming the shutter is functioning reasonably well). On most of these the finder cover has to be up in order for the shutter to fire. Mike
