Drop plate Camera from W. Butcher & Sons Ltd. or Houghton Ltd.?

Postby Mike550 » Sun Jun 16, 2019 2:06 am

I fotunatly got a falling plate cam for a good price, and in a really good condition. But unfortunatly there is no sign of the manufacturer on it. Only the word MERMAID is inprintet in the Handle. But Iam pretty shure ist was made by W. Butcher & Sons Ltd. or maybe Houghton Ltd. because apart from the view finder windows it looks very close to the Pilot series from Butcher & Sons. And it looks exacly like the Houghton Ensign Mascot No.3 here on Site. Can anyone say a little more about this Camera, before I forget ist, it is made for 6 plates, and the front is not to open. I have a Houghton Ensign Mascot A-3 im my collection, but has other viewfinders and of course no distance attitude. Maybe Iam complete wrong, and the little inprint "Patent" on thr front means its made by another manufacturer,.
