Camera Identification

Postby KodakCollector » Sun Jun 24, 2018 7:56 pm

I bought this camera for basically nothing. It’s missing the lens and ground glass on the back. There is nothing on the camera that tells me who/when/where it was made. Any help identifying it would be appreciated.

Hi! Welcome to the forum!

This is a Ross Panros model.

It's hard to tell the exact year though. I see the same shutter knob in ads from 1911-1914, and then reappearing in 1919. None has the shutter speed explanation strip like yours.

Thanks for the welcome and information. Everyone I asked around town said it was an old German model. I figured it was too as the bellows have an identical pattern on them like my Orionwerk 9x12 cm.

Yep, at the first glance it looks like Goerz Anschütz or Nettel Deckrullo. All focal-plane strut-folding cameras are based on the similar pattern (well... not counting French ones) 8-). Yet, yours has a Ross shutter (helped to pinpoint manufacturer), as well as distinctive pull-out curves (helped to confirm model and manufacturer).
