Lamperti & Garbagnati, Milano, Wooden Camera with counter
]I have this Lamperti & Garbagnati. Milano. Wooden Camera. Found the Patten but think I have the only camera in existence. Would like the value, and any information. 1918 Patten built 1919. Three matching Serial numbers .4119, on body, Counter, and lens board. I believe it's the "above camera" balloons, Arial Photography, planes. Looks like the "Detective" model. But no viewfinder. Also has 24 numbered film 5x7 holders. Equator Koristka, 240mm f 5.5 lens.

Hi!
Photos would be nice, since "wooden camera" applies to 90% of what Lamperti & Garbagnati produced.

John,
Photos got uploaded fine, thanks. One note about the lens - the very same model (one example No.461x) was used on some of the Fiamma tailboard models (1910-1920), which fits your dates too. This model is not listed even in comprehensive Mario Malavolti's guide. You've done an excellent research!
Yes, it could be an airship or balloon camera, as patent says, and considering their airplane cameras were handheld and completely different. I would not expect a fortune out of it though, not even close to $2595, sorry. Don't get me wrong, it is a very uncommon item for sure, but this doesn't always mean it's desirable. Historical significance plays a large role for these uncommon items. If you'd twist my arm, I'd estimate a value around 1000 (+/-500, depending on the condition, professional reconditioning, suitable buyer, etc). If you'll carefully do the cleanup, some hammer auctions may find it suitable for their sale. I'd suggest Team Breker, they specialize on such rarities. One downside - it's a European auction, and shipping this heavy item will be costly. WestLicht would be my second choice. Not eBay for sure. Dust it off, take several good photos (all sides, open closed, lens closeup) and TB may suggest a potential sale estimate, thought it may be hit or miss, depending on the collectors' interest, and on the camera condition after dusting.
I am curious how did you get the image from EPO. This is the document, right?
Eugene.
