Please help

Postby terrysalau » Wed Sep 10, 2014 11:07 am

My Uncle has passed away and he has left me with these vintage cameras.
I have no idea what are they and hope someone could help identifying and let me know the approximate valuation.
I am not sure if they are still working,
Please let me know if you need more information of pictures.
Thank you very much!

I would like to see pictures of the last camera from the top view. Markings and serial numbers should be on the top. The lens- a mystery, looks like a Leica Elmar 50mm F3.5 but it is missing the company marking. It might be a very early Russian copy, hard to tell. Russia made "Feds" before World War II under license. Your camera looks like a Leica III or possible IIIa, the latter will have a "1000" setting on the shutter dial, the III and most of the copies goes to 500.

The Kodak camera with a Tessar lens- uncommon, top plate pictures would help. The serial number of the lens puts it at ~1936.

And these....

Thank you very much for your help!

Since I literally have no knowledge about cameras or photography, please forgive me that I could not provide any precise description of the condition of the cameras.

I hope these pictures could give you a better view on the identification and valuation of the cameras.

Diser beat me to it!
Just to add a note about the Leica copy.. The “58″ in the model designation refers to the year 1958. The serial numbers of these cameras start with “58″ but they were made until around 1963. Four variants were made yours being a 3rd variant due to the shoe style ( where the flash would go on top) because of the 4 screws and the little tabs being spring loaded. When cleaning the lens be careful.. the lens is coated with anti reflection coating.

A great set of Cameras you have there!
Stop in a take a look at my beloved cameras, and read my comments about them!
