Graflex Camera
Graflex Camera
I just received a few boxes of antique cameras from a deceased family member. The one that caught my eye is a Graflex Super D and has " Commander Richard E. Byrd" in gold letters. See pictures. Did most of these cameras come with that imprint on it? I did find an advertisement for these cameras which show pictures of the gold name listed. Any help you can offer me in finding out anything about this camera would be appreciated. Thank you in advance.
Re: Graflex Camera
I find this very fascinating as that name is the name of the man who explored the South Pole and was very famous for it. I did a little research and found he brought 7 Graflex cameras but no mention of the gold lettering. I would send pictures of this camera to Westlicht auction house to see if you may have a collectors item.

Here is a ad for the Graflex with Admiral Byrd showing this camera in the picture...

Re: Graflex Camera
Thank you for the information! I will contact the auction house. Not sure I should try to sell this camera but maybe donate it to a museum?
Re: Graflex Camera
Let me know what the auction house says!
