Russian made ? Detective camera

Postby Madd10 » Sat Nov 19, 2016 7:53 am

I recently acquired this camera which has a small label attached to the front with some russian text on it. Is there anybody that can translate the text ?
Any idea who the maker is of this camera ?

Many thanks.

Definitely Russian label, but Russia didn't make cameras back then, this one was sold by Moscow-based studio/store of I.K.Gek (Иван Карлович Гекъ). The studio was operational during (1896?)1902-1918 timeframe.

Thank you Diser - I suspected that it could not have been Russian made as these detective cameras were typically made in the 1890's-early 1900.

Any idea on who the maker could have been ?

Could be one of the ICA Trilby models. They were sold in Russia for sure.

This ad is from 1919, and yours should be even earlier. It's possible it came even from Hüttig before the merger.

Here is 1906 Trilby by Hüttig.
33B came with Periscop-Aplanat.
