The camera was introduced in 1933 and was discontinued that same year. The box camera was waning in popularity and consumer had many other choices by 1933. By this time most box cameras were discontinued but some went on as long as 1957. The six 16 Target Hawk Eye’s internal mechanisms were all metal and glass and it was surrounded by a cardboard box with some metal fittings mounted in it. It had a meniscus lens, rotary shutter, two aperture settings, landscape plus portrait viewfinder, and used V616 or 616 roll film. The shutter had two settings of B or instant and the shutter speed is 1/50th of a second depending on the care the camera received. The two aperture settings were f/11 and f/22 and were changed with the pull tab on the top of the camera. It produced an image size of 2 ½ inch x 4 ¼ inch. The camera name is embossed on the leather handle and also on a label on the film cage inside the camera. Production was limited to US and Canada and the numbers made is unknown.
