1938. 120 rollfilm SLR camera. The same model was continued in 1951, but soon changed to the vertical one. There were only 350 (some sources say 1500) horizontal models manufactured, so they are extremely rare.

A camera was sold on Ebay on Jan 31 2016 fo 1175 USD (I added the price in the table above) Described as "Very Good" but I would rather grade it as average - there is quite some loss of chrome at the back of the camera (see pictures).

This is the description from the seller.

"The first Exakta 6×6cm model was released c.1938 by Ihagee in Germany. It featured interchangeable lenses, a waist-level viewfinder and a peculiar, very large advance lever built onto the base. The shutter had a very wide range for the period 12 seconds to 1/1000th plus B.

This camera's serial number is: 553680

This item has been graded per TCA standards C-6: Very Good. This camera has not been tested. This would take a minimum of a good cleaning to operate. This camera is sold As-Is. The overall appearance of this item may be improved with a gentle and thorough cleaning. This listing includes quality photographs and a unique description for the item you will receive. Please reference all provided information for the included item(s), accessories, or parts that may or may not be included. Photographs may be enlarged for better detail. Overall condition is Very Good."
